The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course is the natural progression on from the Assistant Instructor course, expanding on what you've already begun to learn. After successfully completing the OWSI programme you're qualified to attend the PADI Instructor Examination, a rigorous 2 day evaluation held by senior PADI Instructor Examiners.
The OWSI course continues on from the Assistant Instructor course, with more presentations delivered by a Course Director, expanding on what you already learned and learning about the full selection of PADI courses you can instruct once qualified as an instructor.
You'll need to deliver two more Knowledge Development Presentations, two Confined Water Presentations and another Open Water Presentation. You'll also sit 6 dive theory exams (similar to what you sat at Dive Master level) and complete an 800 metre continuous snorkel swim. Finally you'll show proficiency at demonstrating rescue skills.
The final stage of your journey to becoming an instructor is to sit the Instructor Examination, held over 2 days. Various venues can be chosen depending on which date you wish to sit the exam, ranging throughout the country. |
